Top Ammonia producer in United States replaces delivered 12.5% hypochlorite and bromine with MIOX sodium hypochlorite generator and is successfully controlling biological contaminants for cooling tower water treatment. MIOX sodium hypochlorite generators are designed to produce the absolute lowest cost hypochlorite on the market. Continue reading
MIOX will exhibit at SynGas to showcase on-site generated Mixed Oxidant Solution (MOS) as a clean, safe alternative water treatment for industrial water treatment. MlOX’s on-site chemical generation technology provides the safest water disinfectant in the market. As demonstrated in industrial water treatment applications worldwide, MIOX’s MOS is proven to remove biofilm, reduce corrosion, eliminate water souring and other problems related microbiological growth.
One of the major applications we will be focusing on is how producers can use both on-site generated Mixed Oxidant Solution chemistry and on-site generated sodium hypochlorite for cooling tower water treatment. Other major applications include process water and wastewater at refining plants, fertilizer plants and ammonia plants.
Benefits of MIOX in industrial facilities include:
- Increased thermal efficiency through biofilm removal
- Reduction of biocide costs by up to 75%
- Reduced dosage, ORP and corrosion
- Reduced trucking, carbon emission and fuel consumption by eliminating delivered chemicals
- Increased workplace safety through removal of storage and handling of hazardous chemicals

About SynGas 2014
On Monday April 28, the SynGas Association will hold its 10th Annual conference in Tulsa, OK. SynGas provides “an open exchange of ideas and information to promote better safety, technical, environmental, operational and maintenance techniques for the mutual benefit of the organization and its participants.” Attending the conference will be producers and suppliers of the synthetic gas industry. From big name keynote speakers and over 30 industry specific breakout sessions to the annual SynGas Golf Tournament, this year’s conference will not be one to miss.
Waterborne illness from microbial growth in building water distribution systems is a real threat to water safety and communities. MIOX’s patented Mixed Oxidant Solution (MOS) chemistry for secondary disinfection can help eradicate biofilm that can harbor Legionella and other microorganisms without the use of Chlorine Dioxide. MIOX Mixed Oxidant Solution and sodium hypochlorite generators improve workplace safety by eliminating the handling and storage of hazardous chemicals while maintaining steady disinfection residuals.
On-site generated Mixed Oxidant Solution (MOS) using salt, water, and electricity provide one of the best options available for control of Legionella, ultimately resulting improved safety and elimination of biological hazards. Legionnaires’ disease (LD), the more severe form of legionellosis, is characterized as a type of pneumonia. Legionellosis is caused when Legionella pneumophila or other Legionella species are introduced to a host as an aerosol, such as from the spray from a shower. The infection can be fatal. Easy to kill in its free-floating form, Legionella can harbor in biofilms, which then slough off and can aerosolize in faucets and shower heads. By controlling biofilm, Legionella can be effectively controlled. Mixed Oxidants offers the most effective, safest and lowest cost option for the control of biofilm. Mixed Oxidants also meet ASHRAE standards for secondary disinfection of institutional piping.
The chart below shows the results of MOS at pH 8.5 against Legionella. MOS provided better disinfection (>5.5 log inactivation) compared to the other biocides and validated field data whereby bromine chemistry and non-oxidizing biocides are easily replaced with MOS chemistry. Hypochlorite (bleach only achieved a 4 log inactivation and bromine showed 4 log initially and then decreased in efficacy over time.
MIOX offers a comprehensive product line of on-site disinfectant generators designed to solve virtually every water disinfection and water treatment challenge. Field tested and proven, MIOX on-site generation systems are available in a variety of sizes, and chemistries and are scalable to produce some of the highest volume and rate demands on the planet.
On-site generated MOS (Mixed Oxidant Solution) and HYPO (sodium hypochlorite solution) are your smarter disinfection solution to increase performance, ROI, safety and revenue. But did you know that MIOX systems are very easy to operate and designed for high efficiency, low lifecycle cost, durability and reliability?
Let us show you how easy it is to generate disinfection chemistry at your site. Eliminate the transportation, storage and handling of hazardous chemicals AND generate a more effective disinfectant.
MIOX Chemistries are replacing delivered bulk chemicals in many industries across the globe:
Municipal Drinking & Wastewater, Industrial Wastewater Treatment & Reuse, Swimming Pools & Spas, Hospital Secondary Disinfection, Food & Beverage Processing, Livestock Watering & Sanitation Solutions, Oil & Gas Water Treatment & Reuse, Cooling Tower Water Treatment.
During AWWA‘s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE13) on June 9 – 13, MIOX’s Tom Muilenberg sat down at VertMarket’s Water Online booth to discuss the benefits of MIOX on-site chemical generation and emerging advanced oxidation process (iAO) during a live radio podcast.
Tom discussed not only an overview of MIOX chemistries, but also the various applications of MIOX on-site generators and how they are economically beneficial for the companies using them. The main benefits that Tom mentioned include enhanced safety, increased efficiency for disinfection, easy to handle and operate, and a lower cost than other solutions.
