How does MIOX work in my cooling tower water treatment?

Using food grade salt (yes, table salt!), MIOX electrochemical generators create your cooling tower water treatment biocide each day to keep your tower free of bacteria and biofilm.  The MIOX solution can be fed directly into the tower sump or injected into the circulation loop from a buffer tank, and can be controlled by your existing control system, ORP or chlorine analyzer, and link to DCS or SCADA.

Operation Blessing On The Ground In Tacloban To Provide Safe Drinking Water

Operation Blessing‘s VP of International Operations, David Darg, is on the ground in Tacloban to bring relief to typhoon victims.  In just a matter of days, David will have a number of portable hypochlorite generators and will start distributing clean drinking water to survivors in Tacloban and other affected areas in the Philippines.  Right now, food and water are critical for survivors. Many have now gone days without either as aid workers and military personnel work to reach those trapped in devastated areas.

Six (6) MIOX BPS portable sodium hypochlorite generators and one (1) SANILEC 6 sodium hypochlorite generator have been deployed to the Philippines by Operation Blessing International.  The seven (7) clean water treatment technologies have the combined capacity to treat approximately 500,000 gallons of water each day, providing safe drinking water in life-threatening conditions.

Watch the video below as David explains how the families in the Philippines are struggling to survive in the wake of one of the strongest storms in recorded history.

MIOX For Drinking Water

MIOX is a cutting-edge technology company that has been making water safe to drink for twenty years. Many communities are turning to MIOX chemistries for their drinking water disinfection because the chemistry is a proven disinfectant for improving the quality and safety of drinking water with significant economic savings. MIOX’s extensive experience providing clean, safe drinking water ranges from rural communicates to large cities with more than 10 million people such as city of Bogota, Columbia.

Around the world, MIOX products are providing reliable access to safe drinking water. By providing advanced disinfection technology, government agencies, NGOs and relief organizations have used MIOX systems to provide water purification in disaster relief efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Sri Lanka and Thailand, floods in the Mexican state of Tabasco and after devastating earthquakes in Haiti. MIOX systems have proven effective in Haiti, Honduras, Africa and other remote settings where access to clean drinking water is crucial but unavailable.

Operation Blessing Uses MIOX On-Site Chemical Generators To Aid Typhoon Haiyan

Operation Blessing International President, Bill Horan, confirms lack of safe drinking water is one of the biggest problems facing the relief efforts.  With raw sewage overflowing as a result of the typhoon, water supplies are contaminated.

”One of the most pressing challenges in a major disaster such as this is providing clean water,” says Horan. “These state-of-the-art MIOX units will be of immeasurable help in our efforts to provide clean drinking water for tens of thousands of people each day.”

In the video below, Horan showcases the a MIOX BPS portable sodium hypochlorite generator and how the people in the Philippines are utilizing the technology to provide safe drinking water to those impacted by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

The MIOX Brine Pump System (BPS) used in the video weighs under 12 kg (26 lbs.) and can be set up to start generating disinfectant within a matter of minutes.  The unit can treat up to 45 cubic meters (12,000 gallons) of water per day if operated continuously. Power requirements are 12 VDC, making it possible to use solar, generator, or battery power, as well as power from the wall. BPS units were utilized in both Sri Lanka and Thailand after the tsunami for drinking water treatment and medical equipment sterilization, in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina for cooking and shower water, and in in Haiti after devastating Hurricane Isaac.

About MIOX On-Site Generators

MIOX offers a comprehensive line of on-site disinfectant generators designed to solve virtually every water disinfectant treatment challenge. Field tested and proven, MIOX generators are available in a variety of sizes, and chemistries and are scaleable to produce some of the highest volume and rate demands on the planet.

On-site generation of chemistries for water disinfection is a technology that is based on decades-old scientific principles.  MIOX on-site generators (OSGs) use an electrolysis process that takes a solution of sodium chloride (salt) and water and applies electricity, to produce chlorine-based disinfection chemistry.

Expertly designed MOS and sodium hypochlorite generators from MIOX give customers the freedom to produce disinfectants in the amount they need, when they need it.  Because of the benefits that OSGs provide, many industries are switching to on-site chemical generation and moving away from more traditional chlorine delivery systems such as chlorine gas, concentrated sodium hypochlorite, and bulk calcium hypochlorite.
