Operation Blessing Uses MIOX On-Site Chemical Generators To Aid Typhoon Haiyan

Operation Blessing International President, Bill Horan, confirms lack of safe drinking water is one of the biggest problems facing the relief efforts.  With raw sewage overflowing as a result of the typhoon, water supplies are contaminated.

”One of the most pressing challenges in a major disaster such as this is providing clean water,” says Horan. “These state-of-the-art MIOX units will be of immeasurable help in our efforts to provide clean drinking water for tens of thousands of people each day.”

In the video below, Horan showcases the a MIOX BPS portable sodium hypochlorite generator and how the people in the Philippines are utilizing the technology to provide safe drinking water to those impacted by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

The MIOX Brine Pump System (BPS) used in the video weighs under 12 kg (26 lbs.) and can be set up to start generating disinfectant within a matter of minutes.  The unit can treat up to 45 cubic meters (12,000 gallons) of water per day if operated continuously. Power requirements are 12 VDC, making it possible to use solar, generator, or battery power, as well as power from the wall. BPS units were utilized in both Sri Lanka and Thailand after the tsunami for drinking water treatment and medical equipment sterilization, in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina for cooking and shower water, and in in Haiti after devastating Hurricane Isaac.

About MIOX On-Site Generators

MIOX offers a comprehensive line of on-site disinfectant generators designed to solve virtually every water disinfectant treatment challenge. Field tested and proven, MIOX generators are available in a variety of sizes, and chemistries and are scaleable to produce some of the highest volume and rate demands on the planet.

On-site generation of chemistries for water disinfection is a technology that is based on decades-old scientific principles.  MIOX on-site generators (OSGs) use an electrolysis process that takes a solution of sodium chloride (salt) and water and applies electricity, to produce chlorine-based disinfection chemistry.

Expertly designed MOS and sodium hypochlorite generators from MIOX give customers the freedom to produce disinfectants in the amount they need, when they need it.  Because of the benefits that OSGs provide, many industries are switching to on-site chemical generation and moving away from more traditional chlorine delivery systems such as chlorine gas, concentrated sodium hypochlorite, and bulk calcium hypochlorite.

Parkson Upgrades Water Disinfection System to Cut Costs at Hawaiian Water Recycling Plant

Parkson_General-6in4We are proud to announce that our exclusive partner, Parkson, has upgraded a water recycling facility in Hawaii with the MaximOS™ sodium hypochlorite generator on-site generation disinfection system that will deliver immediate savings in operating costs while maintaining the highest water quality standards.

John Deogracias, Parkson’s Commercial Leader for MaximOS said, “The three largest expenses for any plant are labor, power and chemicals.  The technology behind MaximOS is state of the art and allows for the most reliable and efficient means to support  the water recycling facility operator’s O&M budget.”

The Hawaiian water recycling facility is an award-winning site that serves a critical function on the island, by helping to preserve the state’s valuable drinking water supplies. The 13 million gallons/day facility relies on MaximOS and other technologies to facilitate irrigation by the municipal government and supply process water for a power plants and oil refinery water.
